பார்த்தவுடனே பயத்தினை ஏற்படுத்தும் விலங்கு புலி. அதன் உருவம், சத்தம் மற்றும் பற்கள் போன்றவற்றை பார்க்கும்போதே நமக்குக் கண்டிப்பாகப் பயத்தினை ஏற்படுத்தும். நிலத்தில் புலி இருப்பது போன்று கடலிலும் ஒரு மீன் வகை உள்ளது. அதுதான் ‘புலிமீன்’. புலியை ஒத்த குணாதிசயங்களுடன் இருப்பதால் அவ்வாறு கூறப்படுகிறது. பிரான்ஹாக்கள் (piranha) எனப்படும் கொடூரமான பற்கள் கொண்ட மீன்களுடன் ஒப்பிட்டுப் பேசப்படும் இது ஒரு வகை ஆப்பிரிக்கா மீன்கள் ஆகும்.

பெரிய புலிமீன்கள் சுமார் 50 கிலோ எடை வரை வளரக்கூடியது, இது முதலைகளை கூட அடித்துக் கொன்றுவிடுமாம். இதில் மற்றுமொரு ஆச்சர்யமான விஷயம் வெளிவந்துள்ளது. ஒரு சில மீன்கள் கடலின் மேற்பரப்பிற்கு மிக அருகில் பறக்கக்கூடிய பறவைகளைப் பிடித்துவிடும், ஆனால் இது கடலுக்குச் சற்று மேலே பறக்கக்கூடிய பறவைகளைக் கூட பாய்ந்து பிடித்துவிடுமாம். இது நடந்தது தென் ஆப்பிரிக்காவின் ஒரு ஏரியில். இதன் பிறகுதான் அந்த ஏரியில் ஹெலிகாப்டரில் செல்லும்போது கூட தண்ணீருக்கு அருகில் செல்லக்கூடாது என்ற முடிவுக்கு வந்தனர்.

Bird-Snatching Tigerfish

Tiger is majestic animal that instills fear in us on its mere sight. Its appearance, sharp teeth and powerful claw are so frightening. Similar to the Tiger on land, there is a terrifying fish in the sea called the Tiger fish. It is called so because of its similarities to that of a Tiger. This fish, which is often compared to the sharp toothed Piranha fish, is an African fish.

Larger Tiger fishes can grow up to 50 kg in weight and have the ability to kill a crocodile. Another surprising fact is that, while some fishes snatch the birds which fly close to the surface of the water, these fishes leap and snatch the birds which fly above the surface of the water. This has happened in a lake in Africa after which people have decided not to go close to the surface of water even while flying in helicopters.
